Vitamin B12 and folate
Vitamin B12 and folate in SciatiEase
SciatiEase contains vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, 1 mg (1,000 mcg) per 4-capsule serving, plus folate as methylfolate, 500 mcg DFE. That is 41,667% and 120% of the Daily Value. B12 matters for nerves mainly when you are low, and no upper limit is set for it. Folate stays under the 1,000 mcg adult limit for supplements.

What it is01
What are the vitamin B12 and folate in SciatiEase?
The vitamin B12 in SciatiEase is methylcobalamin, and the folate is 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, often called methylfolate. Both are active forms, so the body does not have to convert them first.
B12 helps keep the coating on nerve fibers healthy and helps make red blood cells. Folate works beside it in the same cycle.
The NIH notes that no study shows one supplement form of B12 is absorbed better than another (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). The form is a fair choice, not a secret edge.

The numbers02
How much B12 and folate is in SciatiEase per day?
Four SciatiEase capsules give 1 mg of B12 and 500 mcg DFE of folate; two capsules give exactly half. The label serving is 4 capsules, while the sales page and the official site often talk about 2 a day.
The adult B12 target is 2.4 mcg a day (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). Two capsules hold 500 mcg, about 200 times that.
Folate is closer to food levels. The adult target is 400 mcg DFE, and the upper limit for folate from supplements is 1,000 mcg a day (NIH ODS, Folate). Even the full serving stays well below that limit.
| Nutrient | 4 capsules | 2 capsules | Adult target | Upper limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) | 1,000 mcg | 500 mcg | 2.4 mcg | None set |
| Folate (methylfolate) | 500 mcg DFE | 250 mcg DFE | 400 mcg DFE | 1,000 mcg from supplements |
A worked example: a multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid plus the full serving brings supplement folate near the limit. Add up every label. The whole panel is on the SciatiEase supplement facts page.
Research03
Does B12 for nerves help sciatic nerve pain?
B12 for nerves helps clearly when a person is short of B12; for sciatica in people with normal levels, no good study shows a benefit. That gap is the honest center of the story.
A B12 shortage can cause numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, even before blood counts change (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12) (MedlinePlus, Peripheral Nerve Disorders).
Sciatica usually comes from pressure on a nerve root, such as a bulging disc (MedlinePlus, Sciatica). A vitamin does not take that pressure away.
A Cochrane review found too little evidence to say whether B vitamins help or harm damaged nerves (Cochrane, Vitamin B for neuropathy).

Higher risk04
Who is most likely to be low in vitamin B12?
People who take metformin or acid-reducing medicine are among the most likely to run low in vitamin B12. Both can cut how much B12 the body absorbs over time (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Metformin is a common diabetes pill. Acid reducers include proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole and H2 blockers such as famotidine.
If you take either one and feel new tingling in your feet, ask for a B12 blood test first. A test gives a real answer; a capsule only guesses.
- Metformin for type 2 diabetes or prediabetes
- Proton pump inhibitors for heartburn or reflux
- Diabetes itself, which also raises the odds of nerve damage in the feet (NIDDK, Peripheral Neuropathy)
A B12 supplement is never a reason to skip or lower metformin, an acid reducer or any other prescribed medicine. Change nothing without the doctor who prescribed it.

Is the B12 and folate dose in SciatiEase safe?
The B12 and folate dose in SciatiEase is within known safety limits for most adults. No upper limit was set for B12 because it shows little potential for harm, even at large doses (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Folate has one quiet risk. Large amounts can correct the anemia of a B12 shortage while nerve damage keeps going (NIH ODS, Folate). With plenty of B12 beside it, that risk is smaller here.
Folate can also interact with methotrexate and with seizure medicines such as phenytoin, carbamazepine and valproate (NIH ODS, Folate). If you take any of these, ask your doctor first.
A daily 1 mg of B12 can push a lab result high. Tell whoever orders the test that you take it.
The same capsules also hold 20 mg of vitamin B6. If tingling or numbness gets stronger while you take them, stop and call your doctor. The B6 numbers are on the vitamins B6 and B2 page.
Ask first06
Who should ask a doctor before taking B12 and folate in SciatiEase?
Anyone on methotrexate, seizure medicine, metformin or daily acid reducers should ask a doctor before taking the B12 and folate in SciatiEase. So should anyone pregnant, nursing or under 18.
The vitamins are mild; some herbs in the capsule are not.

The formula07
Where do B12 and folate fit in the SciatiEase formula?
B12 and folate are two of the four B vitamins in SciatiEase, next to B6 and B2. Together they form the B vitamin line on the label, while PEA carries the largest amount in the formula.
If your B12 is normal, these two lines are the least likely reason to buy. If you are low, a plain B12 tablet chosen with your doctor may be simpler. Compare every line on the SciatiEase ingredients list.
FAQ08
Vitamin B12 and folate in SciatiEase: questions
How much vitamin B12 is in SciatiEase?
SciatiEase has 1 mg (1,000 mcg) of vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin in each 4-capsule serving, or 500 mcg in 2 capsules. The adult daily target is 2.4 mcg, so even half a serving is far above it. No upper limit has been set for B12 (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Is the methylcobalamin in SciatiEase better than regular B12?
Not clearly. Methylcobalamin is one of the two active forms the body uses, but the NIH reports no evidence that absorption differs between supplement forms (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). The amount and whether you are low matter far more than the form printed on the label.
Does SciatiEase contain folic acid?
No, the label lists folate as 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, not folic acid. Four capsules give 500 mcg DFE, 120% of the Daily Value. Methylfolate is absorbed at least as well as folic acid, and it counts toward the 1,000 mcg daily limit for supplement folate (NIH ODS, Folate).
Can I take SciatiEase if I already take a B12 supplement?
Usually yes, since B12 has no upper limit, but check with your pharmacist first. Doubling up adds cost without a known benefit if your level is normal. Check the folate and B6 in other products, since those have limits.
Should people on metformin get their B12 checked before SciatiEase?
Yes, a B12 blood test is a sensible first step. Metformin can lower B12 over time, and a shortage causes numbness and tingling in the feet (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). A test shows whether a shortage is the cause before you rely on any supplement.
Will the B12 in SciatiEase change a blood test result?
It can. A daily 1 mg of B12 may raise your blood B12 reading and hide a level that was low before. Tell whoever orders the test that you take SciatiEase, so the result is read correctly.
Is the folate in SciatiEase safe during pregnancy?
The folate amount is in a normal range, but do not take SciatiEase while pregnant or nursing without your doctor's advice. The capsules also contain feverfew and passionflower, and health agencies advise against both in pregnancy (NCCIH, Feverfew) (NCCIH, Passionflower). A prenatal vitamin is the usual choice.
